The internet can become slow when there is more data being sent than what is available in the clinic, eg. if the clinic has 10Mbps available to send/receive traffic and 15Mbps of traffic is trying to be sent, it will become slow. There are a few causes for there to be more internet traffic and will need to be investigated before submitting a ticket. Below are some questions that need to be answered to help identify the causes of the slow internet:
- Is just the internet slow on Wifi or is it slow on the front desk computers?
- How many devices are connected to the internet (cell phones, computers, TVs, radios, etc.)?
- Is the internet slow all of the time or does it get slow during certain periods, eg. just in afternoons or just mornings?
- Do any of the devices stream music or TV shows (Netflix, YouTube, Spotify, etc.)?
Another way to troubleshoot internet speeds is by doing a speed test. Browse to https://speedtest.net on the computers that are noticing the slow internet. Make sure to include the screenshots of the results, along with the answers to the questions above, when submitting a ticket! Those results help Support when contacting internet providers!
